    Colonia del Sacramento

Drift across the chocolate-colored waters of Río de la Plata for a daytrip to Colonia del Sacramento, one of Uruguay’s oldest settlements whose sovereignty was a point of conflict between the Spanish and Portuguese empires for over 200 years. The European influences that both countries left long ago remains frozen in time throughout this rustic city, and is evident in every cobblestone, drawbridge and villa.

    Tango show

    Tango show

This evening, opt to attend an Argentine tango performance. This passionate dance originated in the lower class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires in the mid-1800s. Dancers bring their own styles and embellishments contributing to the excitement and unpredictability of the experience. Even though dancers follow certain conventions, they never quite know how someone will construct a dance. It really does take two to tango, because this dance isn't just about the man leading and the woman following. (Please note: Although formal attire is not necessary, jeans and t-shirts should not be worn for tonight’s performance.)
